My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everyone,
My name is Kirby but my Mom calls me Kirby the Keeper ‘cause I’m such a handsome and delightful little guy! She says I’m so happy that I smile – and when I do, I light up the room! Besides being handsome, sweet and lovable, I’m also obedient, playful and want to please! Sound good? Then please read on!
I’m a sturdy pup of about 18 pounds who is solid muscle. I’m also a bit of a character. When I sleep on my side sometimes one of my ears just happens to stick up. Mom says it makes her smile just looking at me.

You’re probably are happy to know that I’m housebroken, I don’t mark, I really enjoy my walks (I love checking out the animals and creatures in the neighborhood) and I adore rides in the car. (I’d really like to drive but Mom says I’m not big enough yet.) Not to brag, but I’m pretty smart too ‘cause I already know several commands and, if you offer me a treat, I’m happy to learn even more!

I’m also adorably playful! Did you know that I can play tug-of-war with my little stuffed pillow? If you can get it away from me (I often let Mom do that!) and throw it, I will chase it and bring it back to you. I’m good at entertaining myself too, if you are busy.

Speaking of which, Mom says I enjoy hanging out with her more than anything! I’m not a big kisser but I give some pretty cute licks to let her know that I’m happy…. Like when she rubs my head and behind my ears. (Mom does that very, very well!) And I’m a great companion. When Mom watches TV I sit right next to her and pay very close attention. I never know when she’s going to ask me something. (Oh silly me! Mom doesn’t really ask me about the programs but I know she likes my company.) And when she leaves to go somewhere I don’t have that thing called ‘separation anxiety’ but boy! do I like it when she comes home!

If a friend or neighbor comes to the door, I bark to let Mom know but I’m not a yappy guy. More often than not I just find a comfortable place in the room and curl up, ready to be the world’s best companion at a moment’s notice. After a busy day of walking, riding, playing and watching Mom, I snuggle up safe and warm in my bed and sleep quietly through the night. (When I’m really, really tired Mom says I have a cute little snore, too.)

Unlike many of my furkid brethren, I’m happy to be the center of someone’s world and would do great with a couple or a single, who want to give and receive lots of love and attention. So, if you’re interested in a darling bichon boy who will snuggle his way into your heart, then ask for Kirby. I’ll be waiting!

Wags and hugs,
Kirby the Keeper
