About VA Reptile Rescue, Inc
About Our Rescue Group...
I’m Bonnie Keller, and I have operated VARR since 1999. I was also the founder of the NH Herptile Society and Rescue. I have had articles published in various newspapers, and was the technical editor for Melissa Kaplan's Iguanas for Dummies (IDG books, 2000). I also wrote an article in Reptile and Amphibian Hobbyist that was published in August of 2000, and an article for Reptiles magazine that was featured in 2011. In addition, I have been a consultant for and provided assistance to local, state, and federal authorities in cases of abuse/neglect, and confiscation. None of this would be possible without the support and guidance of my husband, Rich, who has been with me since the early days of this rescue. We have a son in middle school, and have been foster parents.
Our home is shared by furry companions as well as scaly ones.
We both enjoy working with young people. I teach middle and high school sciences, and Rich drives a schoolbus!
OUR SHELTER HAS CLOSED, though we still have a few animals that need homes. We ARE NOT OPEN FOR BROWSING. All adoptions are done via the website until time for pickup has been established. Appointments will be made for this.
