My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MAKA, like his rescue friend and fellow Border Collie mix Heidi, was dumped near a home out in the country but in a different area in NW TN. The family living there found him covered in fleas and ticks. They said he was great with their 3 children, but that they already had 2 dogs, so they were not able to keep Maka. They called the recue for help in finding a new home. Also shy and timid, Maka made fast friends with Heidi and the two spent their rescue days together until Heidi was adopted. Maka is missing his friend and would love to find a new home and family of his own. Maka likes to be held and he is a sweet, affectionate dog. He has been vetted, vaccinated, and neutered. The vet estimated he is 1 year old and weighs 35 pounds. We expect he will be a medium-sized dog once fully grown. Amazingly, despite being covered in ticks, he tested negative for tick borne diseases and heartworm. Retesting in 6 months is recommended, to be certain. He is on monthly heartworm prevention. If you live in another state, don't let that stand in your way. We will work to transport Maka if it means he will have a good forever home. If you are another rescue group, we will waive the adoption fee but you can make a donation toward vetting at your discretion. The adoption fee will help our 501(c)3 non-profit, all-volunteer rescue to cover at least part of the cost of the veterinary care this dog has received.
