Lucy is a staff and volunteer favorite!
She is a sweet dog who came in very scared, but she has
blossomed into a funny and awesome dog! She knows
sit and has done well in Play Groups! She does a really
good recall, too; she runs back to you when you call her!
And who could resist that smile and those floppy ears?!
Lucy loves to play fetch, though she''s not very good at it
yet. :) Could YOU be the one who helps this beauty become
the fetching machine she is longing to be?
She has come a long way and now all she wants is a
forever home!

Lucy shows off her awesome recall plus `Sit`!

Act quickly to adopt LUCY. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

About Austin Animal Center

About Our Shelter...

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!

Come Meet Our Pets...

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00am to 7:00pm. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

Our Adoption Process...

Our standard Adoption fee for healthy, younger pets is $75. Pets over 5 years old have no adoption fee. Adoption includes a microchip and collar & tags, all the vaccinations a pet is old enough to receive, and spay or neuter surgery.
Adopters must be at least 18 yrs old with a current photo ID. Pets already in the home should have a current rabies vaccination and we may need to confirm permission for adoption from the owner of the property where an adopter lives.
