Now he is cleaned up and we are getting a sense of who he is. He is house trained, happily sleeps in a crate through the night, is not completely comfortable on a leash (he was probably rarely taken for walks and may have been allowed to just run loose in his neighborhood), he is very comfortable with other dogs, and would adjust to being with cats.
He probably is not a dog you could leave home all day while you go to work. He really does like to be with his people. A really nice dog!
