Facts about Apollo

  • Breed: Labrador Retriever Mix
  • Color: Black
  • Age: Adult
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Male
**Apollo is currently being fostered in Houston. His adoption will be long-distance one, meaning that meeting him in person prior to his adoption will not be possible. His adoption fee is $500USD, which covers his flight to his new home and vetting appropriate to his age. He is fully vetted and healthy. Unfortunately, because the transport and care of the dogs is expensive, the adoption fee is non-negotiable.**

Apollo came to us as so many of our dogs do, just crossing our path on in the streets. We are so happy that we were in a position to take him into rescue and find him a new life!

Apollo is an 18-month old Lab Mix. He is roughly 45 pounds and should be done growing. He is an ACTIVE and smart boy and should be placed with a family that can guarantee proper daily exercise and stimulation.

Apollo currently lives with other dogs, both small and large, and does great with all of them. He loves to run and play with other dogs. He has met kids and does great with them, but he does not currently live with children. But, given his age and general personality, we think he’d be fine being placed in a home with children who have been taught how to be respectful of animals.

Apollo has done really well learning and adapting to his foster home, but a new family will be an adjustment for him. Apollo will be best suited family for a family that understands that dogs can take time to acclimate to their new homes - which will likely include having accidents, crying in their kennel, and chewing on things they are not supposed to.

We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who plan to keep them as indoor pets and part of the family. We do not adopt to families who plan to keep dogs outside unattended for an extended period of time, for example the entire workday.

Apollo is fully vetted (vaccinations, neuter, and microchipped). He is heartworm negative and does not have any known health or allergy issues.

If you are interested in adding Apollo to your family, the first step is to fill out an adoption application via the following link: https://reggiesfriends.org/adoptables/

If you have questions about any of our dogs, please email us at adoptions@reggiesfriends.org.

About Reggie's Friends - San Jose

About Our Rescue Group...

Reggie’s Friends was founded out of our love for helping dogs. Living in a city of 1.2 million homeless animals, there was rarely a day when we didn’t see a dog in need of help. Instead of just wanting to do something, we figured out how to do something! Reggie’s Friends is dedicated to the health and welfare of dogs in and around the greater Houston, TX area. We focus our attention on street dogs and shelter cases that other rescues may not have the resources for. We live and love by our motto Street Life To Sweet Life.

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. This can be done via our website at the following link: https://reggiesfriends.org/adoptables/

Our team will then review the application, contact references, perform a vet-check, and request photos of the common areas of the house and yard that serve in lieu of a home visit.

Following the completion of the application, we set up video chats either through Skype or Facetime between the foster and adoptive families.

Our adoption fee is $500USD, which includes the cost of transport and any relevant vet care appropriate to their age. Dogs flying into Canada are subject to an additional ~$125 in custom's fees. These fees are for customs and not related to the rescue or its expenses.

The application process generally takes between 5-7 days as all volunteers also have full time jobs and families.
