My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Suzy-Q is a sweetheart with a rough past. From a young age she was kept in a cage and bred repeatedly causing her to have a medical issue that was left untreated until her rescue. At which time she made a full recovery. After her rescue she was attacked by a loose dog and nearly lost her life. After months of rehab (both physical and emotional) and medical treatments we are happy to report she has fully healed and is completely healthy now living with her foster family and 3 other dogs. Suzy-Q is a people person. She loves her foster family and would like to find a home where someone is with her for a majority of the day to keep her company and take her for a lot of walks. She loves to run around out side (though she is not fond of being in the cold snow or wet rain) and absolutely loves to give everyone she meets kisses especially kids. She would be just as happy snuggling with her owner on the couch watching a movie or laying in her new owner's lap for some serious rubbing (she thinks she is a lap dog). Suzy loves kids and is endlessly patient with their attention and exuberant love. Suzy has worked very hard to learn to become an inside dog, she didn't really like being kept in a cage outside all the time, but she is still confused on what proper inside behavior is. She usually understands that she has to go outside to go to the bathroom but she definitely will not hesitate to use the floor if no one is listening to her about going outside. Suzy loves to chew on things and if she is not given enough toys to keep her happy she will also create her own toys out of whatever she can find including the remote, tin cans out of the recycling, and anything wooden. She is crate trained and should be crated (for her own safety) when not with her owner as she is apt to amuse herself when left alone. But she is a sweet and loving dog who will reward any future owner with complete love and admiration. Suzy Q is not a perfect dog and will require training and patience but her love and sweetness is absolutely irressistable. She can melt your heart with her eyes and will quickly worm her way into your heart (and onto your bed). Due to Suzy's past owners neglect of her we are seeking someone who has a lot of love and patience for this girl and will understand how stubborn she will be about training and inside manners. She does fairly well with most other dogs but would do best in a home with smaller dogs or with very relaxed and/or submissive dogs. I would suggest she not go to a home with cats unless the cat is more like a dog and not apt to run from her encouraging a chase.March 25, 2024, 7:03 am
