What happened? What happened to my life? What happened to my family? What happened to my happily ever after? My name is Russel and I am a 4 year old 114lb male Great Pyrenees and this is my story.
To know and love someone for almost your whole life changes you, they become your world and you can only hope that you are theirs. What happens when it all falls apart though? When they decide they no longer want you and dump you somewhere. What happens when you spend day out on your own...just looking for someone...anyone. When all you can wonder is what happened? Why did they dump me? Why did they abandon me? Why am I here all alone? Then, you start wondering. You realize you started walking funny and had a hard time getting up. You realize that once your owners realized that it wasn't an easy fix they took the "easy" way out and got rid of you. All those years together simply were just erased because of something you cannot help. You watch your beautiful coat turn into shambles and matts, your lovely body turn into a skeleton, and your always happy spirit dwindle away.
Then, when all hope seems lost..like you will never be happy again, something amazing happens. I wandered up to a nice couples house and they got me groomed and fed me well. Then, they reached out to this awesome rescue to see if they could help me.
Upon coming to rescue I was taken to the vet and it turned out I had hip dysplasia in BOTH hips. Which means I will have to be on pain medicine for the rest of my life...in some cases hip replacement is possible but with me being so big and having it in both hips...if I get one done then the other hip cannot support me and I need to be able to heal on the other before they can replace my other hip. Despite this I am one happy boy! I love to talk, and want to be near you. I am a calm boy that loves dog beds and will need a home with carpet and no or very little hardwood floors. I am good with other dogs but would probably do best with a female or older dogs as I am not super active. Although I do enjoy going outside and exploring the yard. I am good with cats and do fine with older children. I am housebroken and just looking for a chill family looking for a chill, lovable guy!
