About Companion Cats

About Our Shelter...

Companion Cats is a volunteer-based 501(c)3 non-profit feline rescue group offering low cost spay/neuter services for stray/feral/barn cats. While our main goal is to spay or neuter un-owned cats, we also operate a no kill shelter licensed through the State of Michigan.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are open on Tuesdays from 11-4 at our shelter at 29 Hoag Street. Other arrangements to see our cats can be made by calling 269-968-1540.

On Saturdays at Petco (located at 12765 Harper Village Drive, Battle Creek, MI), we bring a few adoptable cats to be seen from 11- 3.

Our Adoption Process...

The first step in the process of adopting a pet from Companion Cats is to complete an adoption application. It provides information that enables us to assist you in the selection of a pet. Together, we will be able to determine if the adoption is in the animal’s best interest, and the process ensures that you will find an animal well-suited to your lifestyle.

Our $70.00 adoption fee (or $105.00 for two) includes the cost for general care while being fostered, some vaccinations* and other medical care, the spaying or neutering of the animal*. (*Only in the case that the animal is old enough to spay/neuter.) If the animal you have chosen has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will not be able to take it home until it has been altered or you may elect to submit a $100.00 deposit which is refundable once you show proof of the spay/neuter from a licensed veterinarian.

To be considered as an adopter, you must:

*Be at least 18 years old
*Have a valid driver’s license or Michigan Identification Card stating your current address
*Have the knowledge and consent of a landlord, if relevant
*Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide medical treatment, proper nourishment and care, as well as, training for a pet

Call 269-968-1540 to begin the adoption process.

NOTE: We reserve the right to refuse adoption to anyone. No animal will be adopted to persons who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on the adoption applications.
