Maddie was left at a trailer park in El Cajon by her guardians who moved away and offered her to other people. No one took her in and she wandered around the park for about a year. Since she had not been spayed, she had a litter of four kittens, of which only three survived. She then had another litter of five kittens, at which time someone reached out to get her some help and a volunteer came over to take in Maddie and her four surviving kittens who were only weeks old crawling about on a porch during a garage sale. Safe and well fed in foster care, she was able to nurse and care for them-she's been a great mom, always feeding them, cleaning them, wrapping her front paws around their little necks to cuddle, and ever patient with them. Her kittens are now old enough to be adopted, and so is Maddie!

Maddie Mama, as her foster affectionately calls her, is a friendly cat who has been a joy to have around-for the care she showed her babies yet also the companionship she shares with people. Maddie is a quiet girl who seldom meows and is all around a very mellow and sweet cat. She loves to relax and bask in sunbeams now that she is free from her motherly duties. Since Maddie is still a young cat, she plays with any toys she can find on the floor, and one of her favorite toys is a milk cap top! While not a directly-in-your-lap cat, Maddie does enjoy being around people and getting a lot of pets and attention.

Maddie likes some cats and not others; with patience and proper introductions she would probably be fine with another calm cat-she does not enjoy cats that play rough. She has been around a small older quiet dog. She would likely do best with older children versus young, those who will have patience with her and let her get to know and trust them before trying to carry her around.

Maddie was cast aside when all she wanted was to be cherished. Now she has the chance for the happy home she deserves-can you find a place in your heart and home for this wonderful lady?
