My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Del Ray is a handsome 6 year old black and tan boy who weighs a perfect 13.6 pounds.

Del is looking for a home where he can be an only dog as he doesn’t like to share his human with other dogs and will growl if his foster siblings come too close to his foster mom. Del is an alpha and wants to be ‘top dog’.

Before coming into rescue, sweet little Del lived in a pen outside. He is a sweet boy who never learned how to play. He does love to dig, dig, dig so he does need a secure yard. Del enjoys being out in the yard and having lots of sniffs and exploring. Del is not leash trained but with time and patience this is something that could be worked on.

In Del’s foster home in Florida, he gives lots and lots of kisses and love to his foster mom and enjoys cuddles! This sweet boy is house trained but like all dachshunds he will need to be confident in his environment to have good potty habits. All rescue dogs go thru a period of adjustment so understanding and patience. Del uses a doggy door in his foster home.
