already neutered, not good with dogs, and not good with cats.
I am already neutered, not good with dogs, and not good with cats.
I am an XL shepherd mix who is seeking a savvy home. I am not your average dog and I will require an EXTREMELY experienced owner who displays confidence in handling me. I am pretty good on a leash and know some basic commands, but I am not good around small animals or livestock. I would do best as an only child, although my friends at the SPCA are working on my dog-dog social skill and I am improving daily. I can jump 6 foot fences like they're a small hurdle, so please don't leave me unsupervised or chained in your yard. As you can imagine due to my size, I am extremely strong. I am very smart and know commands.
Exercise: Fairly low key but I have the potential to be energetic. I am a fence jumper!!!! Other dogs: I would do best as only child, but with the right dog I may be okay. Meet and greet required. Children: Meet and greet required. Cats/other small animals: Only if you have a pest problem! I am not good with small animals.
The mission of the SPCANN is to be an innovative regional leader in responsible treatment of homeless cats and dogs, primarily through their rescue and placement in forever loving homes, and by promoting spaying and neutering to control pet overpopulation. We accomplish our mission with dedication to our core values and a lifetime commitment to our animals.
We are Reno's first no-kill animal shelter, founded in 1998. Each year our shelter develops more progressive programs such as our Rural Rescue Program where we aggressively rescue animals from rural animal control agencies and support their joint efforts to move animals out of their facilities and into ours to avoid euthanasia. We also have expanded our reach into schools with our Humane Initiative Program where we teach and show compassion to animals. We have more programs and many projects on the horizon - visit our website to see more!!!
Come Meet Our Pets...
We have events througout the year to highlight our adoptable animals. One favorite event each year is our local public swimming pool closes to the public in the fall and the very last day the pool is open only to dogs in the community. Shelter dogs play, splash and mingle with public dogs in two pools and cool off for the final hot days of the summer.
We post our events on our website and Facebook and through other various media outlets.
Our Adoption Process...
The SPCA of Northern Nevada has an adoption process that involves a fee, adoption application, Meet and Greets with prospective humans and other companion dogs in the same household and children. We do have specific requirements for an adoption. We strive to really ensure a great match!
Humane America Animal Foundation, dba Adopt-a-Pet.com, is a non-profit, tax-deductible 501(c)(3) adoption advertising charity. Our mission (and passion) is to help
get homeless pets out of the shelters and into loving homes. Let us know what you think! Suggestion & Comment Box
