Intake as a stray 6-28-17. Approx 1-1.5 year old Shepherd Mix. Windsor is a little skittish. He was running as a stray on his own for at least 1 month before animal control was able to catch him. He needed someone willing to work with him on socialization, confidence, and trust so our friends at Von Leidenschaft Kennels in Lakeville agreed to board and train him! Here is the trainers update as of 8-9-17. : I think a home with kids will be fine. Older kids probably better. He is doing a lot better about not jumping up on people!
He does well with other dogs. Dogs medium/large in size would be best. I dont know about cats But Id probably say no just because I think hed just want to play and chase them. If he hurt them I dont think itd be on purpose.
We are still working on all obedience, I will send a video in a few days, that will probably help.
I dont think he likes to be left alone. He whines and barks and tries to get to where I am. I tried him in the run and on a tie out. Maybe someone whose home more than gone. Definitely fenced in yard, and plenty of exercise. Hes definitely not an apartment dog. He needs direction and someone who will continue his training daily. Hes a sweet boy and a really good dog.
Any interested adopter can contact us. We are hoping to place him in a home directly from the training facility so that he does not have to come back to the shelter and regress. He is neutered, vaccinated and heartworm negative. Adopt fee $60.
