Meet Rufus! He is a handsome English Mastiff mix that is 7 years old. Rufus came to us because his owners felt that he deserved much more attention than they were able to give him in their home. He is an easygoing dog that would love a family willing to take him on daily walks or runs. Since he is a dream on a leash, he is able to keep up without any pulling. Rufus gets along great with men and women, but prefers slow introductions where he is allowed to approach when he is comfortable and ready. He is great with kids, but due to his size, we recommend that he goes into a home with children over the age of 10.
Rufus currently lives with another dog, and they get along nicely. He doesn't seem to mind meeting dogs of all sizes on his daily walks either. Even though he does not live with cats, he does not seem interested in them whatsoever. We feel that with proper introductions to other animals, he will do great. Rufus is housebroken, leash trained, crate trained, and has mastered some basic obedience skills. He is very food motivated and easily trained, so he will catch on quick. Some of his favorite things to do are to play with toys, ride in cars, and he particularly loves to play in water! We highly recommend that our potential adopters fill out an online application as soon as possible, as it greatly expedites the process of finding the right dog for your situation. If you choose not to fill out an application before inquiring about a particular dog, please briefly tell us about yourself, family, and lifestyle since this will help us determine if the dog you’re interested in is a good match.
Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-serve basis, but rather we strive for a “perfect placement” so we know that they will not be failed again.
