Pickles is truly one of God’s most amazing creatures.  He is a 12 year old blind rat terrier who has overcome so much to just survive.  Pickles, his guardian Polly and their sister Mammy were turned into a rural Tennessee shelter when their mom died. The family did not care enough to take care of them at all.  Mammy has been adopted and Pickles and Polly are in the same foster home.  Pickles does rely on Polly when he is unsure but most of the time he is confident and knows what he wants.  All it takes is a kind voice, across the room, across the yard or around the corner and Pickles smiling face and wagging tail are headed in your direction.  He is the most amazing dog.  While the steps might be tentative the desire is there and he is coming to you.  He maneuvers around things or goes along the fence or the wall head up and tail wagging. All he wants is to find that kind voice and to be petted and praised for his journey.  His blindness does not slow him down in the least.  Once he reaches his destination praise and loving are what he wants.  He is a great little guy.  He wants to be beside you and will cuddle right next to you when it is time to watch TV and you need to scoot over when it is time to go to sleep.  He will walk with you on leash as he trusts where you are taking him.  If you have a soft spot in your heart for a doggie that truly deserves a loving home for the rest of his life then you have found him in Pickles.  Pickles is neutered, current on all his shots, microchipped and on monthly preventative.  If you would like to learn more about adopting Pickles please contact Vivienne at or 615/943-7311.  ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Special consideration will be allowed to a family who would like to adopt Pickles and Polly.)

About Critter Companion Rescue- NJ

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a group of dedicated rescue people who want to save as many dogs and cats from the local shelters before they are euthanized. On the average....there are only 1 out of 10 animals that get adopted from a shelter. We are dedicated to helping increase pet adoptions by offering a shelter animal a foster home to go to while awaiting an adoptive family to find them on our Petfinder website. Won't you please adopt a shelter animal? Or won't you please help us foster a shelter animal while we are looking for their perfect home? What a gift you can give a dog or cat by giving them a place to feel safe and secure....a forever home or a foster home. Won't you help us at Critter Companion Rescue give them a chance to have a life?

Our Adoption Process...

Most all our dogs are fostered in Tennessee and transport up to the Northeast or New England. Our fees start at $500 and can be higher depending on the dog and circumstances for their vetting. All fees cover the health certificate, transportation up to designated places for families to pick up their pre-adopted dog, spay/neuter, rabies, all shots, fecal and dewormings, microchip, complete vet check up and 4 way heartworm test if dogs are older than 8 months.
