My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Location: Newville, PA

Dallas and her brother, Jacks, are looking for a new home since their parents are unable to care for them any longer. They needed to move to an assisted care facility and Dallas and Jacks were not able to go along.

Dallas is a social girl and enjoys playing. She will jump on her brother and play every chance she gets. She loves to catch treats in her paws and chase after them across the room. She loves to be petted and to lay in the sun on the floor or on the couch. She likes to go into the clothes cupboard and find a “bed” in there.

Jacks is very laid back. He loves to be in the same room as people and will even hang out in the bathroom while you take a bath or shower. He will crawl on the couch to watch TV with you. He loves to be petted, loves the laser pointer, and will play until he collapses on the floor.

Dallas has spent some time with children but she will usually hide unless they are sitting and throwing her treats. She doesn't like children running around. Jacks would often allow young children to hug or lay on him. Jacks will take treats from a toddler’s hand and is very gentle not to nip him when he retrieves the treat. He is great with kids and strangers.

Dallas has also had encounters with dogs. When they visit, if the pup runs up and scares Dallas, she will raise her back, fluff her tail, and growl if he gets her cornered. She usually will just hide when he comes in the house. Sometimes she will stand her ground and just watch the dog. Jacks will raise his back, fluff his tail, and growl deep inside. He usually will hold that pose until the pup moves away then returns to normal.

Dallas doesn't care for loud noises, especially plastic bags rustling (don't know why). She doesn't like going outside, and if she would go out on the porch, she is hugging the door meowing until she can go back in.

Dallas and Jacks would love to be adopted together. They are approximately 7 years old, spayed/neutered, and declawed. If you’re interested in fostering and/or adopting them, please contact Marianne at marianne.m.barrick.civ@mail.mil or (717) 245-4118.
