Additional Information: If ever there were a sweet kitty who deserves a hero, it's Sam. Declawed and ultimately abandoned at a kill shelter when his family (and I use that word loosely because who would do this to a senior cat?) moved, Sam has so much love left to give someone who understands what a “forever home” means! He's a super chill cat who enjoys napping, snuggling, a good petting session, cheek scratches and eating. There's not an aggressive bone in his body and he's the model of patience. Periodically, he'll be overwhelmed by his desire to share love with someone who values him and will express it by meowing, following you around and giving plenty of head boops and cheek rubs; he's totally adorabs! How could someone have ever left such a doll behind to die?
Sam isn't interested in toys, but if you want to rev him up, just offer him some bonito flakes or Purina Beyond Grain Free Chicken and Egg Flavor treats! With no claws he obviously is safe around the most expensive furniture, and he doesn't jump up on things either. Please step up and show Sam that people aren't all heartless! Come meet him and you'll both be glad you did!
If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon.

City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model).
Adoption fees // Dogs/puppies - $395; $200 for senior dogs // Cats/kittens - $150 (unless otherwise noted)
Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
