My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Cyclops, and no, before you even ask, I don’t have just one eye!

I am a male 5 month old lab/hound mix. I’ve had the luxury of being in a foster home for a couple of weeks now so I’m learning all sorts of stuff that will help make me a great family member! My foster family consists of a Dad who loves to rub my belly, he really knows where all the good spots are. He has been teaching me to play fetch too, it’s really fun but sometimes I forget I’m supposed to bring the toy back. There’s a 12 year old girl who loves to snuggle and cuddle with me, she makes nap time great. There’s also a 10 year old girl who teaches me all sorts of cool things like sit, stay, lay down and paw. She really loves to teach me stuff and she gives me treats when I finally figure out what she wants me to do! And there’s a Mom too. She really likes it when I use what she calls manners. I’m still not quite sure what all those things are but she gets really excited when she’s in the kitchen and I keep my feet off of the counters and cabinets, when I don’t try talking to everybody who walks by on the path outside of the house, when I “drop it” or “leave it” and she even gives me a cookie when I go potty out in the yard instead of on the carpet! I even have my own bed, they call it a crate, that’s where I sleep at night or when they all have to go somewhere. Sometimes I get to go with them places, the car isn’t my favorite place to be when it’s moving, if they play country music it makes it a little better though, and they laugh when I throw my head back and sing along.

They don’t have a fence around their yard so they put me in a harness and use a leash. They say I’m a good boy when I walk nice and don’t try to run. When I really want to run and play they take me to a place with a bunch of dogs all running around, I think it’s called a dog park. I really like running free and playing with new friends. I usually just lay down and roll over when a new dog wants to meet me. But, after a sniff or 2 we can be best friends.

My foster family tells me that I’m not going to live with them forever but my forever family is out there somewhere. If you think you might be my family, just contact Hopeful Tails and they will schedule a time for us to meet!

Cyclops' adoption fee is $350 which includes his neuter, microchip implant, fecal exam, and shots up to date.

Please note: As we are a rescue all of our adult dogs/puppies for adoption must be spayed or neutered. Although we make every attempt to have this done before finding their adoptive families, this is not always possible. Please speak with your adoption coordinator to see of this service has already been performed or they will explain to you if your new dog/puppy will need this service while in your care at no cost to you.

When emailing please include your phone number to help speed up the adoption process. Also, for the safety of our dogs we only adopt within a 2 hour radius of Joliet, Illinois to allow our volunteers to do home checks if necessary.
