DeNiro is a one in a lifetime cat! He asks for hugs and then gives adorable headbutts against your chin and cheeks! He loves to be held and is an absolute joy to be around. DeNiro would love to find the perfect hugger - is that you? DeNiro has tested positive for FIV, which means he has a suppressed immune system. FIV is not a death sentence and FIV cats can (and do!) live completely normal lives. To learn more about FIV, contact your veterinarian or contact HSEC for more info!

About Humane Society of Eastern Carolina

About Our Shelter...

The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina's mission is to serve as a safe haven for homeless and neglected pets and act as a resource to the community. By educating the public about issues pertaining to animals, we feel that we can work towards the elimination of over breeding of dogs and cats and teach owners to be responsible pet owners. At the same time, we hope to facilitate adoption of pets to good homes so that we can allow more unwanted animals to find a temporary home with us.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina does on site adoptions at our facility located at 3520 Tupper Drive in Greenville, NC. We also do off site cat and kitten adoptions at PetSmart two weeks of each month. Information about facility operating hours and the PetSmart schedule can be found on our website at

Our Adoption Process...

Potential adopters complete a screening application and all adoptions are subject to approval by facility staff and/or facility director. Cats must be kept as indoor pets only. Dogs are adopted as companions, not as guard dogs or yard dogs. Adoption fees vary by species and breed.
