MEET DAISY -
NEWS FLASH ! This absolutely adorable and precious, 17 month- old AKC Pie Bald Dachshund puppy (no papers) was just rescued. ODR, Inc volunteer Sandy named her Daisy because she is as lovely as summer and kind of reminds you of a lazy summer day where naps are more important than running around. Daisy has beautiful markings and is of excellent breeding. This tiny little doll is on her way to the vets for the works and once she is done, we'll post new photos. DAISY is very timid and shy, which is common among rescues, but DAISY is a REAL love. She just needs TLC and a little weight gain. This is one very special puppy. Get those applications in soon. Puppy kisses from Daisy waiting just for you.
DAISY will do best as the only fur baby in a doxie savvy family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.
Unlike most Dachshunds, DAISY is NOT a high energy dog. She truly enjoys naps in the sun, lying in your lap and relaxing. She is not yet leash trained so her new family will need to work with her on that.
Doxies do tend to explore so Daisy will need a securely fenced yard with a strong wooden fence is a must which will allow her to run around an explore her environment safely. DAISY enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so she will also need regular walks around her neighborhood, While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 12 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc). Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $595, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.
