Matt was found outside all alone, wandering around Fairport Harbor. PAWS was able to rescue him to help him, and then give him the loving attention needed. Matt was found with his fur all matted up, and loaded with ticks.
Matt was loaded with ticks but PAWS provided him with the needed medical treatment to resolve the issue. He is now unmatted, tick free, and learning to adjust to being in a loving home. Because of his upbringing, Matt remains skittish. He is afraid of sudden movements directed toward him, or with new situations or people. He does need time to feel comfortable with new situations and people. When Matt is frightened, he will hide, but when shown loving reassurance then he will come out. Matt is learning to get along with other cats in his new living situation. Matt loves to be petted, and will purr like crazy when doing that. Matt will come close to people, once he feels comfortable, bumping his head up against them for attention. Matt prefers to be held only for brief moments, has not been a lap cat yet, but based on his loving personality he has the potential to be held longer.
Matt enjoys being petted all over his body, except his belly. Matt's favorite part of his body to be petted is his face and ears. Matt will let you know when he wants attention. When not wanting attention, Matt will meow and nimble toward your hand. Matt will do well in a quite mature home with no young children. Matt will do best with an adopter who has some experience with a skittish cat.
