Our Adoption Process...
It is important to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society to find “forever” homes, one owner for the rest of an animal’s life. To find just the right match for both family and pet, we ask that everyone who is interested in adopting a pet be willing to do the following:
Spend quality time with the chosen animal.
Visit the animal – all members of the household.
Complete the adoption application.
Comply with our requirements based on the chosen animal.
Prepay for spay or neuter as well as rabies vaccinations if the animal is not altered or current.
Attend an appointment with an adoption counselor at the time of pick up.
Un-altered puppies and dogs: $75 with prepay for surgery required
Altered mixed breed adult dogs: $100
Altered puppies, pure bred dogs and some small breed dogs: $150
Dogs with special needs: $35
Altered cats and kittens: $50
Un-altered cats and kittens: $35 with prepay of surgery required
Cats three years of age and up: Fee is waived
Reimbursement for rabies vaccination may be required in addition to adoption fee
Adopters are required to prepay the cost of having the rabbit altered at their vet prior to adoption if it is unaltered at the time of adoption.
Special Program Fees
The Oshkosh Area Humane Society has special programs that adopters may be qualified to participate in, thereby reducing adoption fees.
Buddy Program: Adopt one cat and get the second for an additional $10.
Senior Pets: Adoption fees for animals five years and older will be reduced $20.
Pets for People: Adopters 60 years and older receive $50 off the adoption fee.
Ladies Benevolent Society Fund: Seniors on a fixed income finding the adoption fee a hardship will have the adoption fee waived.
