About Orphan Angels

About Our Shelter...

We started as a bunch of folks who wanted to see several rescued cats get a home rather than seeing them remain "warehoused" in cages at a now-defunct animal shelter. We rented a storefront and filled it with livingroom furniture like lazy boy chairs. We added a ton of toys, beds, blankets, "kitty condos," etc. and let the cats roam freely. The majority of cats roam cage-free and are able to greet the public and give them tours around their temporary home.

We sometimes also take in additional cats/kittens, depending on the circumstances, although the original cats are our priority at the moment.

We are a strictly NO-KILL shelter! We realize that some cats may not be adoptable, but our belief is that each cat deserves a life, no matter what.

Of course we are dependent on donations from the public to keep this shelter open and the cats healthy. Monetary donations are always excellent, but we also desperately need scoopable (clumping) cat litter all the time.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our address is 2212 West 8th Street, across from Pizza Hut in the West Erie Plaza, next to the Sleep Gallery building. We are working on getting a bigger sign since most people have said our shelter is hard to find.

We are open 12 noon to 5 pm every day EXCEPT Wednesdays. We can make arrangements to schedule an appointment to come and adopt a cat after hours. Just call 814-504-3246!

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption fee is $50.00 and that includes spay/neuter (all cats are sterilized before adoptions), all shots, worming and flea treaments. All of our cats are also "Combo-tested," which means they are tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia (see more info below). Since we put a lot of our time, emotions and love into each and every cat, we have some rules for potential adoptors. The first is that you must agree to keep the pet indoors at all times. Second, you must agree to NOT declaw your new pet, as that is inhumane. We sometimes get a cat in an owner surrender that may already be declawed, so please ask if we have any such cats available for adoption. It is also our policy to deliver your chosen cat to your home. There are rarely exceptions to this rule.
