About Ogemaw County Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

The Ogemaw County Humane Society is a non-profit organization that is privately run. We are Board Driven and have a contract with the county for stray animals that are picked up by Animal Control. The shelter's main goal is to take in the strays of Ogemaw County, evaluate their adoptability, medically treat them as needed, and find them new and loving homes. The majority of our animals here are strays, with a few owner surrenders. We are considered a low-kill shelter and pride ourselves on our current 2013 euthanasia rate of only 4%. We DO NOT euthanize for space and the majority of our animals will stay here until they find their new and forever homes. Please help us in our journey to save these forgotten animals!

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process takes as long as you need to find the perfect companion. We offer home visits with the adult dogs with a $50.00 deposit which is refundable, should you choose not to adopt. If you choose to adopt, it goes towards the adoption fee. All of our adoption fees include the spay/neuter and micro chip. Our adult Pit Bull breeds, Pit mixes, and all senior dogs, have their spay/neuter covered under our Spay/Neuter Grant. Adoption fees vary, and are either $75.00 or $100.00, depending on age. If they are over 5 years old, they are considered a senior and their adoption fees are only $75.00. All others, including ones that are already spayed or neutered, are $100.00.

Our other breeds and all puppies are $175.00 and that includes their spay/neuters and micro chips.

Our cats and kittens adoption fees are $125.00 and that includes their spay/neuters and micro chips.
Senior (over 5 years old) are $75.00 and cats under 5 years old that are already spayed or neutered are $100.00. Micro chips are included in these prices.
