Hi There! My name is Sasha JC. I came to the SPCA via Jackson County Animal Control. I am a wonderful girl looking for her furever home. I like to go for walks and play tug of war. I like to grab my leash so sometimes I have to be walked with one that has those chain links in it. I have a lot of energy and enthusiasm. I can also play pretty rough and tumble with other dogs. I would like to first meet a new brother or sister if you are interested in adopting me. I also love couches. I may even get a little testy when I have to move because they are soooo comfortable. You should probably not be a first time dog owner if you want to take me home.

Sasha JC is a big girl with a big personality! She is extremely friendly and playful but Oh Boy! Is she strong!! She loves going for walks but she will take YOU where she wants to go. She is attentive when treats are involved so training her to walk better on leash should be easy. She has done well playing with other dogs, but can get a bit rough so it would be best to do a Meet and Greet. She also did not mind cats, she was more curious than prey driven. Because she has spent so long in a kennel environment, it is believed that she might need to be worked with on how to live in a home environment. So a patient, strong and determined owner would be best. But Sasha JC only has love and affection to give back!

If you are interested in giving this pet a forever home, please stop in the shelter T-F from 1-7pm, Sat 11-4pm or by special appointment. Adoptions are not started within 30 minutes of closing time. If you have questions, email

Our Adoption Process...

Adopting an animal is a long term commitment and is therefore a serious decision which should be given ample consideration. A furry companion is a delight, but make sure that you understand the obligation of ownership as well.

Do you know how much yearly vet visits cost - and food, and toys? The ASPCA estimates the annual cost of a large dog to be $780, and a cat is $575. Of course the monetary commitment fluctuates somewhat depending on an animal's size and specific medical needs, but we can guarantee that you will be spending a significant amount on him each year. Do you have time to exercise with your pet? Some dogs have more energy than others, but most would benefit from daily walks. Even cats are better off when their owners are able to set aside daily time for play. Make sure you can give a pet the attention he craves and deserves.
