My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This funny little girl is named Henrietta – it just sort of suits her!

Honestly, Henrietta looks like a cross between a piglet and a hippopotamus -- she is a funny, stocky, robust, solid sweetheart. But since we know that, in fact, she ISN'T a piglet or hippo, we are guessing she is some sort of medium size terrier (maybe 30 -35 pounds?) mixed with a large doxie or corgi or basset hound -- she is just a mix of everything.

Henrietta really is one of a kind! I love her unusual looks, too (not that that should matter), but with her beautiful eyes, grin, and funny ears, she is just a hoot.

The vets say she is only maybe 3 years old, but the poor girl has been through the ringer. The most amazing thing about her is that, despite her experiences that were certainly not all good, she is such a love-dog.

Henrietta has had a pretty rough past... She is a shelter rescue from a terrible high-kill shelter, where she was a shelter favorite, which is why they called to ask if I would foster her.

Henrietta was picked up from a homeless lady in SB, and sadly, they confiscated her. Henrietta is used to carrying a little "saddle bag" for the lady and with Hennie's background, she gets along with absolutely EVERYBODY, and will roll over for a good belly rub.

She is not a barker at all -- gets along super with my other dogs, is mellow, cute as a darn bug (not pretty, but so darn cute!), outgoing, and generally OK with kitties. She does enjoy the chase, though, if the kitties decide to make a game out of it.

Somehow, Henrietta is completely house-trained and crate-trained, doesn't wander off, comes when she is called, and responds very well to all people.

Henrietta is very mellow—she is calm, loving, and tolerant, and would be a super buddy for someone in a small space.

She is sitting here on the cool tile floor as I type this -- she is amazingly wonderful, particularly considering her difficult past.

Henrietta loves other dogs, big and small. She has a big dog personality.

She also loves riding in the car – she likes to ride “shot gun,” and take in the scenery. It’s so funny to see her taking in the view.

Of course, Henrietta is spayed and up-to-date on all of her shots – she is happy, healthy little rascal and is ready for her forever home.

Henrietta also loves all children (and adults!) and is a happy little couch-potato content to sit with you at home just relaxing.

You might even want to take funny Hennie home for a sleepover, so you can see how well she blends with your family and your other pets.
