Meet two little "best friend" pooches that were left together at a municipal shelter. Morgan is an eight-year-old spayed female tri-headed white Sheltie and Ella is an eight-year-old spayed female long haired dachshund. It is so hard for pets that have come from someone's home to comprehend that they were no longer wanted. "Why am I here? Where is my family? Did I do something wrong? Will I die here?" For those of us who love dogs unconditionally, it is heartbreaking to see the confusion on their faces. And if anyone ever questions if dogs have feelings similar to humans, just walk into any animal shelter and look into their eyes. BECAUSE THE DOGS ARE SO BONDED, WE WILL NOT CONSIDER ADOPTING THEM INDIVIDUALLY. Let's start with Morgan. According to foster mom Rosie, Morgan is the perfect little lady. She is still timid and shy but is learning to wag her tail. She is great with men, women, other dogs and even cats. She snuggles with her buddy Ella and nudges her humans for more petting when they stop. Because her fur was so badly matted, someone at the shelter buzzed her into a lion cut. She looks silly now but her fur will grow back into a distinguished looking Sheltie coat in a few months. Morgan is a bit chubby and low energy right now but we believe that will change as she begins to feel better. She had a dental cleaning with four extractions and she is up-to-date with vaccines and microchipped. She is also heartworm negative and has normal blood chemistries and CBCs. Morgan totally understands about housebreaking and other house rules. Her favorite things are rolling on her back in freshly mown grass to scratch her back and mealtime. Ella is a hoot! So says her foster mom, Rosie. Ella is outgoing and enjoys being with other dogs, cats, women and men in general and one man in particular, her foster dad Pat. She adores Pat and nothing makes her happier than cuddling with him on the couch or in bed. That is nothing but mealtime. Ella is overweight and eats so quickly that we have started using a dish that is made specifically for dogs that wolf down their food. She will "sit up pretty" and do a little dance. (I would love to see that) She also has quite a vocabulary of human words. She knows "out to go potty" most of the time, sit, stay and the distinctive sound of a treat bag. Ella had some more extensive dental work that needed to be done with 11 extractions. But her teeth are sparkling white and healthy. She watches carefully over her friend Morgan and even will pop into a crate with her, just to be close. Please understand that we will not consider breaking up this team. (It would be like Thelma without Louise!) We hope that there is a fabulous family of enlightened human beings out there somewhere that can't imagine life continuing without this darling pair of wonderful canines. Applications first please.
