Hi everyone, my name is Daphne. I'm about 5 years old and am spayed. I came to the shelter in early June when my owners could no longer care for me.

I am one of the most lovable cats around. I'm still a bit nervous leaving my kennel. I feel safe in there. My friends at the shelter will sit with me while I muster up the courage to come out an explore. They are patient with me and I am hoping to find a forever home who will also give me time to adjust at my own pace.

I absolutely love affection and love! Cuddling and snuggling and purring are definitely some of my favorite things to do. I'm slowly but surely coming out of my shell. Will you adopt me and give me the chance to show you how great I am?

About Michiana Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

The Michiana Humane Society has been helping our community's unwanted animals find homes for nearly 100 years. We believe that animals belong with families, and we do whatever we can to make that happen!

Come Meet Our Pets...

The shelter is currently open Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for adoptions. You can find news of our activities on our Facebook page ( or our website.

Our Adoption Process...

Looking for a dog or cat? Here's how we do adoptions at MHS. Come into the shelter and find the pet you want to add to your family. Fill out an application form and leave it at the front desk. Then you call us the next morning to find out if you're approved!

Once your adoption is approved, if the pet is already spayed or neutered you can come in, complete the adoption contract, and take your baby home.

If a spay or neuter is required, MHS will schedule it within the next week. Once your pet's surgery is complete, you can come in and pick up.

Adoption fees are $135 for dogs and $85 for cats. That includes all initial vaccinations (except rabies), spay or neuter if required, heartworm or feline leukemia testing, and flea treatments.
