This gorgeous girl is Flicker. She is about 1-2 years old and was brought to the shelter in mid-April. Flicker gave birth and raised her kittens in the shelter. She was an outstanding mama to them. She's ready for it to be about her again so she can find her home.

Flicker is a shy lady. She takes time to come out of her shell. To say she is sweet is an understatement. Flicker is perfectly content to lay in your arms and just relax.

The ideal home for Flicker would a quiet household. She'd also prefer there to be no other cats. Flicker can get a bit anxious around them. But don't worry, she'll provide plenty of cuddles and loves to suffice! Is she your forever cat?

About Michiana Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

The Michiana Humane Society has been helping our community's unwanted animals find homes for nearly 100 years. We believe that animals belong with families, and we do whatever we can to make that happen!

Come Meet Our Pets...

The shelter is currently open Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays for adoptions. You can find news of our activities on our Facebook page ( or our website.

Our Adoption Process...

Looking for a dog or cat? Here's how we do adoptions at MHS. Come into the shelter and find the pet you want to add to your family. Fill out an application form and leave it at the front desk. Then you call us the next morning to find out if you're approved!

Once your adoption is approved, if the pet is already spayed or neutered you can come in, complete the adoption contract, and take your baby home.

If a spay or neuter is required, MHS will schedule it within the next week. Once your pet's surgery is complete, you can come in and pick up.

Adoption fees are $135 for dogs and $85 for cats. That includes all initial vaccinations (except rabies), spay or neuter if required, heartworm or feline leukemia testing, and flea treatments.
