Meet Dutton, a 4 yr old dachshund, who was pulled from a high kill shelter! He is such a great guy. Very quiet and reserved with a lot of personality. He loves to snuggle with his human and burrow under the covers in true dachshund fashion. He's a little guy but he isn't afraid to stand up for himself when another dog gets pushy (see Pawtucket). I haven't seen any aggression with toys or food. He rarely barks and does well being crated. He interacts well with cats. His soulful brown eyes will melt your heart!!!! If you think you would be interested please fill out our application and we can start the process. Please email us with any questions you have regarding this dog that is not covered in this bio. Some of our dogs come with papers from the original owners. WE REGRET WE CANNOT RESPOND TO EVERY EMAIL, BUT UNLESS YOU FILL OUT AN APPLICATION, WE DO NOT KNOW YOU EXIST. All known information about an individual dog is provided in it's listing. We do our best to provide accurate information, but adopters must understand that each home is different and the dog may behave differently in a new home. Dogs are creatures of their environment and you help make the dog what it will be. Homes considering adopting a puppy must be prepared for:1.) Flexible schedules for potty training. Puppies can only "hold it" for one hour per month of age (ex. a 4 month old puppy can only go 4 hours without a potty break).2.) Crate training until the puppy is at least one year old, to prevent chewing on inappropriate things when you can't supervise.3.) Socialization: The more positive and varying experiences as a puppy the better, both in and out of your home.4.) Puppy behavior and life stages are equivalent to a human toddler. It takes at least a full year to have a calmer, well adjusted dog. Patience is required and when your dog's behavior is a positive experience for you and those around you, your patience will be rewarded tenfold, for years to come. Please do not consider adopting a puppy if you have not thoroughly thought through the pros and cons of having one. So many people end up returning them after 3-5 months because they didn't realize the amount of work involved in raising a puppy.Patience, appropriate toys, socialization, and obedience training are all musts. All are time consuming, and can be expensive. All Dogs Require:Supervision with children and obedience training. Adopters that want to have good dogs must be prepared to put the time and effort into training a dog. Any dog requires work and effort, but a well trained, well socialized dog is more than worth the effort put in to get them there.
Our adoption fee is $250.00 which includes spay/neuter, routine shots, rabies, worming, microchipped, heartworm testing and they are on monthly preventative. Visit our website

About LUV4K9S

About Our Rescue Group...

Luv4K9s is a group of people who have come together while working in the shelter and rescue areas. We have a combined experience of over 40 years in the animal world.

We started by saving dogs from puppy mills and puppy mill auctions, taking the ones that were unwanted, to give them a chance at a loving home which they never had. We also take in homeless dogs or dogs that are deemed not adoptable by shelters to give them a safe haven where they will receive medical care, nutrition and love until an approved home is found.

They are rescued from situations ranging from the lack of care and supervision to starvation and abuse.

Luv4K9s wants to reduce the number of unwanted pets by altering all dogs in our rehoming program, to educate the public about the importance of altering pets, and explain that owning a pet is a LIFELONG commitment.

Luv4K9s of Dayton, Ohio is run entirely by volunteers. We receive no government support and operate with funds generated by adoption fees, fundraising and generous donations from concerned animal lovers.

We would like to thank all of the families that have adopted our dogs and given them great homes. We would not be able to rescue the dogs if it weren't for people like you that are willing to give these dogs a chance and a home. It may seem like a small step to take but it means the entire world to these abandoned dogs!
