Marty's favorite words are Gooood Boy!  Marty is a 4yo and just over 10lb Chihuahua mix who looks like German Shepherd puppy with a jaunty curly tail.   Everyone who meets him says that there seems to be a little bit of a big dog in this little guy, so whatever his breed mix is, it is the best of every breed. Marty is a smart, thoughtful, confident, curious and respectful kind of dog that will quickly earn a place as Best Dog Ever in your life.

Marty is good on a leash and likes a harness, is playful with other dogs his size, good with a dog-tolerant cat, and someone certainly taught him good manners as he is an easy dog to have in the house and seems house trained. We haven't found out if he is good with smaller kids, but we think he would be good with kids 8yo and up. Marty would love a fenced backyard or large patio where he could do some exploring, keep tabs on what is going on, and take a snooze in the sun.  Marty is a good traveler, enjoy walks and short hikes, and would likely think geocaching would be a blast.

If you want a big dog personality in a friendly compact travel size package, then Marty might just be the right dog for you. Marty is microchipped, up-to-date on shots and neutered, and received a dental.  Marty's adoption fee is $250 which helps Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies.

All of our dogs are in private volunteer foster homes, and as such these individuals are most qualified to answer any questions regarding the dog.

We do not have a central shelter or kennel locations - you must make a private one-on-one meet and greet appointment with each individual dog at the foster family's convenience.  To protect our foster families' privacy, we must have an APPROVED adoption application on file before we release their contact information.

All of our dogs are fixed (spayed/neutered) and up to date on shots. We have a 2 week foster-to-adopt period to make sure the dog is a fit for your family. Adoption fees vary from dog-to-dog.

Please note that an approved application DOES NOT guarantee that the dog will be placed with you. The final decision rests with our fosters as they know the dogs the best, and please be aware that there may be other applicants interested in the same dog. We continue accepting applications on a dog until the dog is with the new adoptive family in their home.

About Second Chance Dog Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Second Chance Dog Rescue was formed to fulfill a desperate need in the community to Rescue, Rehabilitate & Re-home homeless dogs from the over-crowded local shelters, and from families who can no longer take care of their dogs (on a case-by-case basis only).

Our program is based on foster care, and all rescued dogs spend their first days at a loving foster home where they receive personalized care. As part of our program, we ensure that all dogs are vaccinated, are spayed or neutered, and have been socialized by their foster family. In addition, Second Chance Dog Rescue provides support for potential new owners and monitors progress for both new pet parents and their adopted dogs. This helps guarantee that our dogs go to good, loving, forever homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Visit our website at for a list of upcoming Adoption Events. Additionally, our foster parents may schedule one on one meetings with potential owners and provide a personalized adoption experience.

Our Adoption Process...

We require an Adoption Questionnaire to be completed - whether online or in person - before meeting any of our dogs. Upon approval of the Questionnaire, a potential adopter will be required to complete an Adoption Contract and pay adoption fees. All of our adoptions start with the first 2 weeks as a 'trial' period, to ensure the adoption is a good fit. Adoption of a puppy may require a refundable training deposit, which will be refunded upon completion of training with a Certfied dog trainer, and submission of certificate of completion to our office.
