My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Duke needs to find a new home. He is listed as a Courtesy Posting and is not with Penny Angels Beagle Rescue. Duke is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date with his vaccinations. If you are interested in learning more about Duke, please contact Jeff: 609-234-9173.

Here is what Duke’s owner wants you to know about him: “Duke is a Beagle-mix. We believe he is mixed with either a Coon dog or English spaniel based on his taller size and small specs in fur. He is approx. 3 ½ yrs. old and weighs 45 lbs. He loves his family and will follow you around the house and lie near you. He lives with our 16 year old terrier and fully respects her. He is a sound sleeper from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM and will sleep during the day as well.

“Duke is very sweet and friendly. He is either “on” or “off”, but most of the day he is “off”. We do not let him on our furniture to snuggle, but he will try to sit on your lap if you let him. If you pet him, he will drop to the floor and roll on his back for more petting. He is very submissive. We have a basket on the fireplace with chew bones and he likes to pick one to chew on in the evenings prior to falling asleep. He is house broken; we used a crate when he was young, but we leave him in the back room by day and he is fine.

“By nature, Duke loves to smell things outside and will follow a scent. He will sit and stare outside for periods of time. At the dog park he visits other dogs, but then gets back to exploring. He loves to climb on things so he gets a better view. He sits on command and will give you his paw.

“Behavioral wise, Duke would never attack or bite anyone or any dog. There is a bad dog down the street and Duke cannot be bothered with him. He will ignore and proceed with his sniffing. When he sees a stranger or animal, he will give a beagle howl. We love Duke and will only let him go to a loving home with a place to see nature.”

Please contact Jeff (609-234-9173) if you have room in your heart and home for Duke. Thank you!
