Well slap my knee.....My name is Gus and I am the victim of a dead beat owner.  I was surrendered to the shelter because.....I was "to old" and I overheard my owner say they wanted a puppy!  How could they? When I arrived into the loving arms of SMRS I was provided a full exam, vaccines, full bloodwork panel, Heartworm test and a microchip.  My exam found my ears were infected, intestinal worms, Heartworm positive and some of my teeth were infected and I needed a dental cleaning.  I do have limited vision in one eye and I am blind in the other eye, in addition I am deaf, but none of this keeps me down.  My nose works just fine and what I can't hear or see well, I can smell!  I have had my dental and lost a number of teeth, my ears are not sore anymore and my worms are gone!  I will be taking heartworm prevention to do the slow kill method on my heartworms. I am too old to undergo formal treatment injections.
I am a well mannered senior boy who is beautifully housetrained, crate trained and I am friendly and trusting of other dogs. I will alert you when I need to go outside by whining and if you don't hear me I will bark.  I would of course require a fenced yard, a home with no stairs and it would be so nice to get to spend time with a human.  My foster Mom tells me I give the very best kisses and let me tell you a secret.... before my dental surgery my foster Mom let me give her kisses even when my breath was not the best. See some people thought I was worth saving and I am forever grateful  to SMRS you know us seniors in a shelter almost never make it out alive. After all who wants a senior,  well I am hoping you do!
Let me fill your days with kisses and warm your heart with my love.  Sit on down and fill out my adoption application, you will not be disappointed.

About Short Mugs Rescue Squad

About Our Rescue Group...

Our main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home French Bulldogs that come to us from many sources including local animal shelters, owner surrenders, strays, commercial breeding kennels, import brokers and private rescue groups.

Although our main focus is on French Bulldogs we will try to help place English Bulldogs, Bostons, Pugs and other Bulldog breeds in other reputable rescue groups. If we have room we will help any of these breeds that are in need and each dog will be evaluated on an individual basis. Our goal is to network with various Bulldog, Boston and Pug Rescues to get these breeds out of harm’s way and placed in forever homes.
