My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Mamie
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: Approximately 9 years
WEIGHT: About 10 pounds
DOGS/CATS: Great with other dogs, Great with the family cat
CHILDREN: Loves people and will be good with children

Meet sweet Mamie. Mamie is a bundle of joy and happiness. She loves nothing more than to be with her people. She also loves to play with toys and with you. She is looking for a forever family to love her - are you the perfect fit?

Mamie was found abandoned in a remote country area along with several other dogs. Fortunately there were some good samaritans willing to catch them and get them to rescues. Mamie has obviously been severely neglected for a long time. She was missing 75% of her coat and she looked more like a rhino from her shoulders to her tail than a dog. Her coat has improved significantly since getting into a home and received quality food and no more stress. She also only had a few teeth left and most of those just fell out during her dental. As a result, we really don't know her age. She could be a lot younger and just look older due to her poor care in the past. She still has about 4 or 5 molars in the back but they are all on the bottom jaw. She still eats dry food but just swallows it whole. And as a result of all the tooth loss, her cute little tongue hangs out permanently.

Mamie's personality is so loving and it's obvious that no matter what her past was like, even if it wasn't good, she doesn't hold any grudges. She thrives when she is with her people. She will bark at you when she wants attention. She also demands to sleep in bed with you. So we really feel she had someone at one time in her life who loved her very much. Now she's looking for someone to have that happen again!

Mamie gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home, big and small. She also does well with the family cat. She really could care less about him. She will do fine with children of all ages too. At 10 pounds, she is a great size for an active family! She is also almost completely housebroken. She uses the doggie door and if weather is bad will use a pee pad or rug placed near the door.

We estimate Mamie to be about 9 years old. Remember that small dogs can live to be 15 - 18 years old, so she is only about half way through her life. And don't let this girl's age fool you. She is young at heart and still has a lot of energy and oomph! She will fit in great with a moderate-to-active family!

Mamie is being fostered in the DFW (Texas) area. Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Mamie is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative. and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family - could that family be yours?
