Renato is just a big creampuff at about three years old.  Renato is looking for a firm, calm, confident, consistent leader to broaden his understanding that most people are really ok to just hang out with and have fun. Renato is house trained, crate trained, walks great on a leash, rides great in a car, knows “heel”, “here”, “sit” and “down”.  This sweet guy weighs about 75 pounds but looks heavier due to his fluffiness.  He loves his regular brushing.  He’s fairly calm and laid back.  Renato won't  make a good running buddy.  Unfortunately he didn’t spend much time with people until he came into the rescue so he’s unsure of people he hasn’t met and views many with distrust.  Ignore him and respect his space then he becomes curious and investigates.  It usually takes him some time to believe you’re trustworthy but within a couple of hours, he’ll be your best friend.  Generally, he prefers females over males.  Males may take a little longer to gain his trust.  Currently Renato lives with two foster canines and his trainer/foster has had him around hundreds of dogs with no issues but they’ve all respected his space. He has been around small dogs on his leash but we wouldn’t immediately presume he’d be ok with them without more supervised interaction.  He does fine around children who are calm and respectful of his space. Could you be the pack leader he's been looking for?

About Texas Husky Rescue, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Mission: To rescue, rehabilitate, and find qualified loving homes for neglected, abused, and unwanted Huskies throughout Texas and beyond. To educate the public about responsible pet ownership and the special qualities of the Siberian Husky Breed.

History: Texas Husky Rescue, Inc. was created in May 2009 as a non-profit 501(c)3 animal rescue organization that is run entirely by volunteers and does not have a paid staff or a shelter. Texas Husky Rescue, Inc relies solely on volunteer foster families to take huskies into their homes until permanent, qualified, and loving homes can be found. Texas Husky Rescue, Inc. is a responsible animal adoption agency and requires that all dogs over 6 months are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We ensure that none of our dogs will ever contribute to the overpopulation of dogs in our community. The work of Texas Husky Rescue, Inc. is supported by tax-deductible contributions by individuals, corporations, and grants.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption process has several stages to ensure our huskies are going to qualified, educated, loving forever homes.
All TXHR huskies are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, taking heartworm prevention, and are microchipped prior to adoption.

Adoption fees* are $250 for males, $275 for females, and $300 for puppies under 6 months. NOTE: $50 is non-refundable if the husky is returned during the trial period.
*The fee is an extra $10 (260/285/310) if paying by PayPal.

Step 1. Apply Online
Step 2. Once your application is received, we will conduct a thorough screening process which includes a vet check of your current pets and a phone screen/interview by one of our adoption coordinators.
Step 3. After your vet check and phone screen are completed successfully, TXHR will conduct a fence/home check. This is a check for gaps, broken slats, holes, compromised spots, etc where a husky could escape. Please do a walk of the perimeter of your fence and fix all problem spots before we come to your home.
Step 4. Upon successful completion of the application process, a TXHR adoption counselor will set up a meet and greet with you and the husky you have applied for. Once you determine you would like to adopt the husky, you must sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee before taking possession of the husky.
Step 5. All adoptions start with a 5 day trial period to ensure the husky is a good fit in your home and lifestyle.
