My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is little Tilda. We rescued her from certain death from the shelter as she is disabled. We thought she had been hit by a car, and after taking her to our Orthopedic surgeon for evaluation, he concluded that there was nothing he could do for her. Her front legs are dislocated at the paws, one of her back legs cannot be bent and sticks out along the side of her body and the other one cannot be straightened out, but she uses them to help her scoot around. He decided that amputation was not an option since she was using her legs to move around. She is approx 2.9 years today and weighs 9 lbs as of 7/15/17. She tested positive for heartworms and has been treated and we took her to rehab to make her legs more usable and to give them some more strength. We also had a custom front end cart made for her and she hates it.... she wiggles out and would rather scoot around which she can do very well.. She is the most adorable little girl, she will always be special needs but she is well behaved and as sweet as can be. She spends most of her time on her doggie bed and will hop off to go to the bathroom outside. She needs a really loving home, someone who will give her lots of love for the rest of her life. We think children over 10 would be the best match for her.

The total adoption donation of $450 and includes the required interstate health certificate and transport , spay/neuter, shots including rabies, bordatella, parvo, lepto, distemper and canine influenza, and micro chip with a lifetime pre paid registration. The total amount is payable to Shaggy Dog Rescue which is a 501c3. Some of our dogs are still in Texas in foster care. The application is online at http://houstonshaggydogrescue.org/application-process/

Just as a note, if you are in Massachusetts and are adopting directly from Texas rather than from a local foster, there are new quarantine laws in effect. All rescues must be quarantined 48 hours at a state run facility, and in addition, a second interstate health certificate is required to be issued by a Massachusetts vet. This new law may add an additional cost.
