O-Gong can be a bit hesitant about strangers, but once he gets to know you, he will be your best friend.
When we rescued O-Gong, he was tied up and waiting to be sold to a dog meat market. He was abused for a long time, so he was absolutely fearful of people, and was near death due to severe bleeding. Through volunteers' TLC, O-Gong battled his trauma and began trusting people again. Now O-Gong can't get enough love from everyone.
O-Gong looks very similar the dog in photographs of Paul McCartney (Paintings On The Wall-Willem de Kooning) ;)
O-Gong is UTD on all his shots and is neutered. O-Gong is not aggressive, but he does crave a lot of attention. His #adoption fee is $350.
*O-Gong is currently in Korea. If you would like to #adopt him, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with a bit of information about yourself (e.g. your experience as a dog owner, your family and/or other pets, etc.) and your phone number. A HDP volunteer will promptly respond to your email. Thank you!
Prior to rescue, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization and it takes time for them to learn about life as a family pet. Common skills such as house training and leash walking may often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
We typically do not adopt to homes with children under 8 years old.
A home check is mandatory before adoption.
We adopt to residents of Northern VA and Washington DC suburbs only.
*** About us ***
Hope For Donghae Paws(HDP) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) public charity dedicated to bringing rescue dogs from Korea to the US and finding permanent homes for them. It is true there are many animal lovers in Korea, but still many dogs suffer and are killed for food.
Our mission is to find US homes for mixed-breed dogs whose chances of being adopted in their native Korea are very low.

NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply.
