My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This handsome ball of fur is as loveable as he is loving. Chester is a great Yorkie mix, 2 years old and about 11 pounds. The vet says he is a perfect specimen, lean and athletic. He is working on housetraining and crate training and doing well. He loves children and other dogs but it’s unknown how her would get along with cats.
This youngster is full of energy and really needs to have a family that will be able to walk him often or kids to play in a yard with. A couple of his favorite games are fetch and playing frisbee. He might even make a great hiking partner. If Chester doesn’t get enough exercise he can become bored and turn to mischief to cure that boredom. Bully sticks and a stuff able Kong help to curb some of that misguided energy as well. He enjoys any kind of tough chewable toys. This sweet boy would probably have trouble containing his zest for life if he were to be crated for 8-9 hours a day so maybe a stay at home human or someone that only works part time would be best. Unless the opportunity to attend a doggy day care where he could play and burn energy is an option.
Chester is a dog that is extremely affectionate- this is a dog that will gaze lovingly into your eyes and give you a little lick. He loves to snuggle with his people on the couch (or perch behind you on the back of the couch). He gets a lot of enjoyment playing with other dogs, wrestling and tussling- he sometimes is so enthusiastic that forgets his doggy manners and is too direct and “in your face” for the other dog’s comfort. Fortunately, he pays attention to warnings from other dogs and will back off- he is not one to start scrapping. He also loves to play fetch and frisbee with his humans.
Chester is very intelligent and attentive to his humans. He is also a good guard dog and will bark to alert (we are in the process of learning to stop the barking when I check and say “thank you”). He is truly a fun-loving, easy going boy who will make someone a loyal and entertaining companion.
His foster jokes that he is part kangaroo because of the way he leaps and frolics when he is running- he has powerful back legs. With his intense, soulful eyes, half-an-underbite and his one ear up/one ear down, he is an endearing little guy. Chester is learning to walk very nicely on the leash (currently using an Easy Walk), and has a perky little march with his head and his tail held high. He has longish fur which is easy to maintain and doesn’t seem to tangle at all.
While Chester would be fine as an only dog, his friendly, good-natured, playful, dog-loving personality makes him perfect for someone looking for a playmate for their current dog. He would really be on the moon if he found himself with a canine best friend as well as a family to love and protect. Chester’s adoption fee is $350. He has been vaccinated, wormed, microchipped, neutered, heartworm tested negative and he is current of flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
