Erin is a lovely female Domestic Shorthair Kitty. Her estimated DOB is 04/20/16. She arrived at the shelter through our TNR (Trap Neuter Return) program and her weight at intake was 7.38 Ibs. She was , but we found her to be so sweet and loving that we thought he deserved a chance at a great indoor life! She doesn't seem to mind other cats, but can take an extra moment to get to know new people. But she warms up quickly and enjoys a good kitty toy or two. Erin is ready to change her stars and find a family who will love her so she'll never have to fend for herself again. Erin's adoption fee is $50 and includes sterilization, age appropriate vaccines, dewormer, FeLV/FIV test and microchip.

All cats or kittens at the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter have been tested for FeLV / FIV. All cats and kittens are also up to date on their vaccines and have been or will be spayed or neutered before going to their new homes. These cats and kittens are also litter box trained and micro chipped. Adopters get a free consultation at an area vet partner within 14 days of adoption. All information known about this cat has been included in this bio. Per state law we sterilize all shelter pets before they begin their new fabulous lives with their new families.

The phones are answered as early as 8am on any open day if you have questions or would like to place a hold on an animal.

Here's the scoop on the adoption process:

Placing a Hold: A hold may be placed on an animal for $20.00 a day up to 3 business days ($60.00 max). The hold fee is non-refundable and does not go towards the adoption fee. We encourage you to utilize the hold system if you are interested in a certain pet. A credit card number may be given over the phone or the fee paid at the shelter to ensure the pet you are interested in is available for a meet and greet. Placing the animal on hold makes it so others cannot have a meet and greet with the animal until the hold expires. Holds are on a first call/come first serve basis. You must call or come in, holds cannot be put down via email. You may call the shelter as early as 8am on any open day to place a hold.

In person meet and greet: Potential adopters must come and meet the animal before an adoption can take place. We cannot do over the phone sight unseen adoptions. Business hours vary and are listed on our website (www.prairiepaws.org) or at end of our email correspondence. If you have other animals you would like to bring to the meet and greet we encourage you to do so. We have outdoor enclosures and trained kennel staff will assist with all meet and greets. All family members, including children, are encouraged to attend the meet and greet.

Adoption Questionnaire: Potential adopters will need to fill out the adoption questionnaire. Adoption questionnaires are available on our website or at the meet and greet. Once complete, an Adoption Counselor will review the questionnaire with the potential adopter and will have a discussion to ask and/or answer any additional questions. From there, the adoption counselor will print and review all appropriate paperwork with the adopter to provide important and and educational information regarding the animal.

Adoption fees: Adoption fees must be paid in full at time of adoption – no partial payments are accepted. Cash, Check or all major credit cards are accepted. Adoption fees vary.

Taking your animal home: The State of Kansas requires that all cats and dogs must be sterilized (spayed/neutered) before going to their new homes. In most cases animals will have already been sterilized before being placed on the adoption floor and you will be able to take your new companion home with you the day of adoption. However, if the animal is not yet sterilized, they will need to stay at the shelter and we will schedule the surgery on the next available date (usually within a week). All cats must go home in a carrier and we have cardboard carriers available for purchase ($5 plus tax) if needed.

The shelter is open to the public: Mon, Wed, Thurs 11-6 and Sat 11-4. If you are interested in this cat or kitten, please either email Prairie Paws Animal Shelter at info@prairiepaws.org, for an application visit our website @ prairiepaws.org or call 785.242.2967 for more information.

Our Adoption Process...

All PPAS dogs are up to date on all of their vaccines (including rabies if age appropriate), and will be micro chipped and registered in the adopter's name at the time of adoption. Adopters get a free consultation at an area vet partner within 14 days of adoption. Any dog that is six months of age or older will be tested for Heartworms and if found negative, will be kept on Heartworm prevention during their shelter stay, after the adoption it is up to the adopter to continue the highly recommended Heartworm preventative treatment. Also all PPAS shelter dogs are treated with a monthly topical flea/tick preventative and we ask that adopters continue that treatment as well. All cats or kittens at the Prairie Paws Animal Shelter have been tested for FeLV / FIV. All cats and kittens are also up to date on their vaccines and have been or will be spayed or neutered before going to their new homes. These cats and kittens are also litter box trained and micro chipped. All dogs and cats per state law are sterilized before they begin their new fabulous lives with their new families.
