Facts about Jake
Breed: Shepherd (Unknown Type) Mix
Size: Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
already neutered and housetrained.
I am already neutered and housetrained.
I am Jake, but I'm not from State Farm. I am a proud German Shepherd dog looking for a new job placement. I was let go from my previous position due to differences of opinion with the management. Although we had been together for seven years, our philosophies began to change and it was better to part on good terms.
Even though I am considered a Senior at 8-years-old, I was not let go due to my age. As a matter of fact, I feel about four or five years old! I am a SUPERIOR ball catcher. Not much interest in retrieving though; German Shepherds are about saving people not bringing a ball back to you. But if you had a bushel basket of balls, I'd catch them ‘til the streetlights come on. Obviously, I am a very handsome guy, neutered, but still eye candy-72 pounds of hunkiness!
If you know anything about my breed you know that I am smart, independent, naturally protective of my hearth and home, and physically strong. I readily admit that I hate being behind bars. It makes me feel very threatened to be caged up and unable to control anything in my life. As kind and thoughtful as the HSHC staff and volunteers have been with me, this is not my idea of a vacation spot. I did get to spend some time with a potential new couple and I enjoyed every minute of our time together. Wish they would have taken me home with them.
To tell the truth, I know that I will be happiest working in an environment of consistency, firm but loving instruction, long coffee breaks, plenty of paid-time-off, with an experienced dog owner who understands that I am not the type to cuddle with you on the couch, and someone who is just fine with my seeking affection when I want it. My resume will indicate that I will be most successful in an adult-only home. Plenty of exercise is appreciated, as are yummy treats! I will do just about anything for a nice smelly treat.
So, if you are looking for a handsome, athletic, independent-minded, self-starter, please make an appointment for an interview today! 6/19/17
