Dogs have a way of finding the people who need them and filling a space we didn't even know we had.
Hello there, you can call me Hank or I'll answer to anything you would prefer. But please listen to my story. I was born on September 3rd, 2013 and it turns out that I had Parvo virus and needed medical attention and a loving foster home where I could recover. The HSHC found just what I needed, and I lived there, thrived and got well and was even adopted. Life was pretty terrific, and I loved my family very much. The only fly in this ointment was the presence of a big, male dog who was bigger and older than me. What we had was a failure to communicate. (I just had to quote "Cool Hand Luke") Even though I got along just swell with the lady dog in the home, it was impossible to bring we two males to an amicable agreement. So, I moved back to the HSHC with hope in my heart for a second chance.
Currently, I am trying to find a person who needs a real-people-pleasing-dog in their lives. I absolutely adore humans and want to make them happy in every way. Now, being 58.6 pounds makes it a little tricky to be a lap dog, but if I could, I would! I am already neutered, housebroken, crate trained, and I know the commands: Kennel up (to get in crate), Leave it, Sit, Stay, Mine (to release a toy), Free dog (to release me from a sit or stay command), Time for Bed, and Eyes (to get me to focus on the speaker). I'd say there are folks in Congress that are not as smart as I am!
Now I want to brag a little bit and tell you that I am in excellent health these days and as you can see from my photos that I am muscular, strong, and ahem, good-looking. So, I might not be the ideal fit for a little or frail person to take for a walk. But I have nice gentle manners, and I don't try to guard my food or toys. I respond best to positive reinforcement and nice smelly treats. I can be pretty picky these days about the dogs with whom I will tolerate or make friends. And by the way, I do not like cats under any circumstance. Yuck!
I hope my story has made you realize that you want me in your life even though you had no idea you needed a dog. I will give you unconditional love and my loyalty forever.
Love, Hank 8/1/17
