Facts about Kazuo

  • Breed: Chihuahua/Boston Terrier Mix
  • Color: Brown/Chocolate
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: 35326137
Found as a stray, Kazuo is a very friendly and social little guy. He has never met a person he doesn't like and contrary to many small dogs, he has never been snippy. He was very quiet in his foster home but he followed everyone's lead and turned into quite a talker at the shelter. We hope (and suspect) he'll go back to being quiet in a home situation. He is good with other dogs and cat friendly. He loves loves loves attention and sometimes fusses if he doesn't have access to his humans. We have seen ZERO signs of any kind of separation anxiety with him but just make sure you reinforce good habits with him (don't make coming/going a big deal, make sure there are times at home where he is ignored and he has to accept that that's the way life goes sometimes etc.) Kazuo is not a greedy guy but his food bowl is his food bowl when it comes to other dogs. He is not interested in other dogs' bowls but doesn't want them near his bowl. He does not attack but will give a 100% appropriate growl warning. If you are an owner that prefers to leave food out all the time for the dogs to come and go and graze... you may need to work with Kazuo on this. Or change your habit. Or just not adopt Kazuo. He has NEVER shown any possessiveness with his bowl towards humans!! It's just a matter that once he's eating, he prefers to eat alone and not have another canine eyeballing his dish. We don't blame him.

Due to his small size we are labeling him "no small children." He actually has quite a child friendly temperament but this is more of a reflection of the fact that small dogs break easily and children frequently lack the muscle coordination to be as gentle and careful as they need to be. Kazuo weighs 11 lbs.

About Animal Protection League

Our Adoption Process...

There is an adoption fee of $100 for all cats and kittens. All felines are tested for FIV and FeLV prior to adoption. Dog adoption fees range from $175-$225. All canines over the age of 6 months are tested for heartworms. All of our animals, regardless of species are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to adoption.

Please feel free to email our shelter and request an adoption application for any of our animals! While it can be filled out in person at our shelter, many folks find it easier to fill one out ahead of time. Processing an application generally takes about a week.
