Facts about Hila

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair/Domestic Shorthair Mix
  • Color: Gray Or Blue
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: 34957347
  • Hair: Unknown
Hila is a mature and well-behaved feline with the cutest little "Tabitha nose" (that's the "good witch" daughter who performed magic by twitching her nose on an old TV show, "Bewitched" for you "kitten" aged humans) and soft white mouth, displaying her PURRfectly outlined cat lips.
Her copper-tan coloring with a bit of grey, black and white fools many to think of her as an "ordinary cat", where she is anything but! Looking at her light emerald, mesmerizing eyes, one can see the 10 years of kitty wisdom gazing back at them.
Her original family moved off the island several years ago and she managed to keep her home, ever so casually, with the new residents.
When you meet her, you'll hear her soft purrs and experience her affectionate demeanor (as demonstrated by her "lap cuddles", kitty head butts and polite kneading). 10 is not simply a "Purrfect" score on a scale of 1-9, it is the years of life she's led until now, and the many more to come when her FURever Home finds her.

About Kauai Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

The Kauai Humane Society was established by the community in 1952 as a local non-profit 501(c)(3) organization to protect Kauai’s animals. We opened our new home on Grove Farm property just west of Lihue in 2001 thanks to the generous support of many individuals, families, businesses and foundations. We are an independent animal welfare organization and not a chapter of any mainland or Hawaii group.

We are the only animal care resource center on Kauai where all animals are welcomed, rescued, protected and sheltered every day, all day.

Occasionally we have birds, turtles, horses and other animals available for adoption and their adoption fees vary.

Our adoption process takes about an hour as you get acquainted with the animals and find the perfect match.

Our adoption agreement requires you to follow basic laws regarding pets on Kauai and asks simple questions to help you determine if you are ready for a new pet in your life. We do prohibit adopting dogs to be used for pig hunting.

We want to be the first place on Kauai people think to go if they are considering a new pet for their family and are always open to suggestions and comments to provide the best adoption services possible.
