Our Mission: The Chesapeake Humane Society works to promote the welfare of companion animals through programs and initiatives that reduce pet overpopulation, increase adoptions and encourage responsible pet guardianship through affordable pet care.
Our vision is to help pets and the people who love them find each other and stay together.
Come Meet Our Pets...
Please refer to the monthly calendar on our website for the most up to date schedule for adoption outings, spay/neuter/vaccine clinics, and fundraisers.
Our Adoption Process...
You are welcome to visit the animals in residence with us on a walk-in basis Tuesday through Saturday 10AM to 4PM. Sunday and Monday meetings are done by appointment only. Please feel free to call or email for an appointment to meet our adoptable pets.
The pets kept in residence are for the most part feline. If you are interested in meeting one of our canine adoption candidates an appointment must be made with their foster parent for a meeting.
We pride ourselves on offering one-on-one private adoption counseling. Once you have completed your adoption application (available at our front desk) an adoption counselor will contact you for a private interview.
Our adoption fees and requirements vary based on each individual animals needs. We work hand-in-hand with our adoption clients and hand-in-paw with our pets to make the best adoption matches.
In spite of our efforts, we understand that sometimes relationships fail. If at any time an adopter needs assistance with their new family member or finds it necessary to return their companion animal, we will respectfully work with that client to determine the best outcome for the animal.
Humane America Animal Foundation, dba Adopt-a-Pet.com, is a non-profit, tax-deductible 501(c)(3) adoption advertising charity. Our mission (and passion) is to help
get homeless pets out of the shelters and into loving homes. Let us know what you think! Suggestion & Comment Box

to help you keep track of which pets you've inquired about, and which shelters and rescues you've emailed.
NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter!
Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures,
