Astrid's Story...
Meet Astrid! Astrid was found in a vacant apartment very pregnant and was brought to Chicago Animal Control. We were able to rescue her and support her through the last week of her pregnancy, her delivery, loss of 3 of her 4 babies and raising her remaining baby. Astrid is a very sweet girl who is guessed to be about 3 yrs old and she weighs around 6 lbs. She loves to give kisses and loves attention. She gets along with other dogs, has been quiet in the home, and has been doing well with her housetraining. She would make a wonderful addition to any family! Astrid's adoption donation of $250 helps cover the cost of her vetting.

Application, reference checks, and home visit required. Adopters must live 1.5 hours driving distance from Romeoville, IL. For more information on adopting, please email us at

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Astrid, a Romeoville Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Romeoville, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Romeoville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Romeoville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Romeoville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Romeoville paves the way for another one to be saved.
