About Petaluma Animal Services

About Our Shelter...

Petaluma Animal Services is a city shelter providing shelter and care for stray and owned dogs, cats, rabbits and other domestic pets. We enforce city and state regulations, conduct investigations, help with wildlife problems, provide help with behavior questions, and maintain the city's dog licensing. We have many wonderful animals for adoption, and also have an incredibly dedicated volunteer staff to help work with our animals. We have a large foster program as well, providing homes for animals that otherwise wouldn't be able to go up for adoption. We have a resource library with lots of information on any animal question you might have, open to the public. We have a wonderful non profit group, Friends of Petaluma Animal Shelter (FOPAS) that contributes money to us for animal use, such as collars/leashes, toys/food for adoptions, treats and toys for all the animals during their stay with us, all the way to scales for our clinic to help us better treat our animals under their care.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our hours for adoptions are Tuesday through Friday, noon to 5pm, Saturday 11am to 5pm. Our office is open to 6pm for other business. Closed Sun/Mon. We often have cats to be viewed for adoption at Rivertown Feed and Pet, 200 - 1st. Street,Petaluma.

Our Adoption Process...

Dog adoption fees are $95, cats $80, rabbits $45, and other small companion animals $25. This includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming, health exam, heartworm/FeLV/FIV test, microchip, Advantage for flea control, behavior testing, collar, leash, sensation harness and kongs for dogs, cardboard scratcher and toy for cats, and bag of food. Petaluma city residents must also pay $10 for dog license. Rabbits are spayed/neutered, and come with a book on rabbit care and other extras. All adoptions start with an application so we can help you make a lifetime match. Applicatons are available at the shelter, or at our website, www.petalumaanimalshelter.org
