Hi folks! I'm a happy, young pup named Vera, a name I've given myself because I aspire to the likes of Vera Wang and Vera Bradley. I mean, look how well I rock this bandana (plus I'm really cute too). I'm a true fashionista who's waiting for her big break, and I hope you can sew because I have a ton of ideas for my bandana line! Creating your own business takes smarts, and I've got plenty of them! I know my basic commands and my manners. I don't mean to brag about how good I am, it's just I'm trying to practice for pitching my business on Shark Tank. When we aren't busy with the bandana business, I'll shower you will puppy kisses. I'm an affectionate dog and enjoy spending time with my humans and cuddling. And I'd probably do okay with another doggy-friend, but please no cats, rabbits, guinea pigs or other small critters; please speak with an Adoption Counselor prior to meeting me if you have any little furry creatures in your home. I do great with larger dogs, ones more my size, but I'm a bit too much for smaller dogs, who tend to get overwhelmed because I want to play all the time. Speaking of playing - I have lots of energy and love walks, so I'd love a nice long walk every day to release some of my energy. Come visit me soon so we can get started on our big bandana break!

About Capital Area Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

For 133 years, the Capital Area Humane Society has been sheltering homeless animals, fighting animal cruelty and neglect, and offering programs to address the needs of animals in our community. More than 92 percent of our funding is provided by donations and fees for services. We are not a government agency, and we do not receive general operating support from national organizations. The Capital Area Humane Society relies on the support of private donors and volunteers to make our work possible.

Since 1883 the Capital Area Humane Society has been dedicated to providing only the highest quality of care for everyone we serve, animals and people alike. We are a team of experts—skilled, caring and compassionate people dedicated to our mission of fighting animal cruelty, helping animals in need and advocating for their well-being.

Our Mission

Our Adoption Process...

You’ll meet an Adoption Counselor to go over applications and discuss the animal you’re considering. We work with you to ensure your family, home and new family member is a perfect fit.
2. We’ll review all the documents and permissions (support from other adults in home, landlord permission and home ownership verification).
3. If your adoption is approved, your new pet can go home with you the same day providing they have had their spay/neuter surgery. If they haven't had their surgery yet, we will let you know when their surgery is scheduled and you can usually pick them up the next day.
