Here's what the humans have to say about me:
It's difficult to imagine this truly beautiful (inside and out) Schnauzer/Terrier mix in a high-kill shelter in Texas. A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Wylie's life and nursed his body and spirit back to joy and well-being. It's now getting to the time when Wylie is ready to be transported to his new life in Colorado. Although it will be terribly hard for Wylie's rescuer mom to say goodbye...she knows that he will have a great life. The following is a description of Wylie by his rescuer:
--Wylie is such a sweet guy just waiting to blossom. I've enjoyed watching him learn that the world can be a loving and positive place. Wylie had a hard start - but now he's learning about treats, belly rubs and that he's a very valuable pup!
Wylie may very well be initially shy or frightened (transport is hard for all dogs), but just give him a bit of time and you'll have a new best friend. Wylie loves to run and play outside...he has exactly the appropriate amount of energy for a 12 - 18 month old, 25 lb healthy pup. He is completely house trained (I'm serious...zero accidents!) and very respectful of the home. Wylie has been so much fun to be out walking with. We even went on a long hike ...he walks really well on a loose leash beside you...and loved the experience. He's perfect for Colorado!
At home, Wylie loves to play fetch, sits on command and will lie down and stay, If his new family puts forth the effort, Wylie will be a natural in training classes. He'll be so proud of his success and would be so happy to accompany his family everywhere a well-behaved dog is welcome.
Wylie would do well with a family who is home alot to hike and play with and run freely in his yard- he would love that! After he's had exercise and stimulation, Wylie is ready to chill on the couch..or on his favorite person's lap is awesome.
Wylie appears to be fine with other dogs but appreciates those that are respectful and not aggressive. He has been great with my 14 and 15 year old daughters, although I haven't seen him around smaller kids, so that's an unknown. He's also excellent with my mom, but might be a bit energetic for a very advanced senior.
We suspect Wylie may have had some difficulties with a male. He met my neighbor (who admittedly is a bit gruff) and barked at him. We didn't see any aggression...it was just clear that Wylie didn't like this guy. In order to be respectful, we wonder if Wylie should go to a home with a woman searching for a best friend. Wylie will be the most loyal and loving companion for a loving and nurturing female.
Wylie may not be neutered when he arrives in Boulder - while we request it, there just aren't enough vets to cover the needs of the vast number of homeless dogs in this small town in Texas. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Wylie's neuter and microchip after his arrival in Colorado if our Denver vet is used.
Wylie will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 7/29/17. If interested in this very sweet guy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
