Everyone meet Rhino!! Rhino is a 3-year-old male American Bulldog who was left behind after his owners moved out of their home in Long Beach and left him chained to a tree (as had been his life each and every day). After neighbors alerted us about his situation and with the help of Animal Control, the owners were located and they eventually relinquished custody to us. What we know about this silly goofy boy is that he is kid and dog friendly (and beginning to be cat friendly) and that he LOVES LOVES tennis balls more than any dog we have ever met. He loves them so much that he falls asleep with them in his mouth like a pacifier (yes they are easily removed when he does). Rhino does tend to resource guard his most prized treats with other dogs so he will need a treat neutral zone and a handler who stays aware of his guarding to exist in a home peacefully with other animals. Rhino is a perfectly precious meathead in every other way! He is up to date on shots, neutered, microchipped, and waiting for his people to find him and take him home furever. If interested in meeting or adopting Rhino, please go to www.lolr.org and fill out an adoption application.

Our goal is not only to place dogs in well-matched, carefully screened forever homes, but also to educate dog owners about responsible pet ownership, including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition. Our Adoption Process...

Fill out an Adoption Application at https://www.lolr.org

We'll then have a brief conversation with you to determine your needs and preferences, find out about your daily schedule, and talk about your previous experience with pets.

If applicable, we'll call your veterinarian to ensure that previous pets have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and well cared for.

For renters, we'll check with your landlord to ensure that dogs are permitted and that the dog that you're adopting wouldn't violate any size or breed restrictions.

Lastly, we'll visit your home to see the environment where the dog will live and answer your questions. This is a great opportunity for you to get valuable input on how to integrate your new pet into your home.

Adoption fees are generally between $300-$
450 depending on which pup you are adopting.
