Max could be that dream come true pup for retirees who enjoy spending their time with a scruffy and adorable guy who is very loving and engaging (once comfortable). There's no question that he would also do well with gentle, dog-loving older kids who enjoy the fun and snuggles that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We want to make certain that Max is handled kindly and respectfully...he'll return that loving treatment a thousand times over with snuggles and sweetness. Max does like playing and is entertaining in his silly antics, young energy and the huge love he wants to show to everyone he knows once he is comfortable in his situation.
Max's story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Texas shelter....but who could ignore his cuteness, adorable manner and desire to bond with anyone who could be his best friend? Max is initially a bit shy..but give him a moment (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss. The awesome Texas rescuers recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family.
At about 12 - 18 months old and 15 lb, Max is a perfect size for walks ,hiking and outdoor fun..and then at the end of the day would enjoy nothing more than a warm lap or a spot on the couch next to his favorite person.
Max would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. We are searching for a family where home is a favorite place.. or they'd like to take along a cute fuzzy guy wherever a sweet little dog is welcome. Max would be the most committed and loving best friend..and would be overjoyed with the opportunity to come along and be part of the fun. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a visit with friends, a car ride, a vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch. All of this would speak to Max's sweet temperament. We aren't open to a home where the family members spend their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Max to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle.
Max is a non-shedding guy with the beautiful..and cottony-soft white and brindle colored hair that represents his breed mix. Max will require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is excellent). With this care, Max's coat will be so soft and shine with good health.
Max has been fully vaccinated.. but hasn't received some of the vet care that is needed due to a lack of funds in this little Texas town. Max has cherry eyes which is a protrusion of the third eyelid commonly seen in dogs under the age of two. It's very fixable and has no long-term affects of any kind. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Max's cherry eye repair as well as his neuter/microchip if our Denver vet is used.
